Kitchen Production Assistant
Location: Wahiawā Value-Added Product Development Center (WVAPDC), Oʻahu
Pay: $18–22/hr depending on experience
Hours: Part-time, flexible weekday shifts (typically 4–8 hour production days)
About Shaka Butter
Shaka Butter is a Hawaii-based food brand making super chunky coconut peanut butter in unique flavors like Banana, Cacao, and Espresso. We focus on local ingredients, great texture, and making a pantry staple taste incredible. We sell at farmers markets, local stores, and online.
Position Overview
We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Production Assistant to help make and package Shaka Butter in our commercial kitchen. This role is hands-on and involves everything from weighing ingredients and mixing batches to filling jars, labeling products, cleaning equipment, and preparing orders.
The ideal candidate enjoys working independently, takes pride in doing things correctly, and understands that consistency matters when making food products.
Responsibilities
- Weigh and prepare ingredients according to recipes
- Assist with mixing and production of Shaka Butter products
- Operate and monitor food production equipment (training provided)
- Fill, cap, label, and package finished products
- Assemble retail-ready cases and inventory
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Wash dishes, utensils, and production equipment
- Keep production and storage areas clean and organized
- Track production records, inventory, and batch information
- Help maintain ingredient and packaging inventory
Ideal Candidate
- Reliable and punctual (this is very important)
- Detail-oriented and able to follow recipes exactly
- Comfortable working on repetitive tasks while maintaining quality
- Able to lift and carry boxes, ingredients, and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable working in a commercial kitchen environment
- Food Handler Card (or willing to obtain one)
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Interested in food, manufacturing, or small businesses
Bonus If You:
- Love peanut butter
- Have previous kitchen, bakery, food manufacturing, or production experience
- Have experience with inventory management
- Enjoy organizing systems and improving efficiency
- Have experience with packaging and shipping orders
