Frequently Asked Questions

Product & Ingredients

Shaka Butter blends organic dry-roasted peanuts with real coconut and other naturally sweet ingredients like bananas and organic coconut sugar. The result is a chunky, tropical, island-inspired peanut butter with no palm oil and no artificial flavors.

Because we don’t use palm oil or stabilizers, some natural oil separation is normal — especially in warm climates (hello, Hawai‘i!).

Just give it a good stir before your first use. After that, you can store it in the fridge to keep the texture thick, creamy, and ready to eat.

Think super-chunky meets creamy. You’ll see real coconut flakes and peanut pieces throughout. It spreads easily on toast but also has enough texture to feel indulgent straight from the jar.

All current flavors are vegan-friendly and don’t contain any dairy products.

There are no gluten-containing ingredients in any flavor of Shaka Butter. However, Shaka Butter is made in a commercial kitchen that also processing major alergens such as gluten, tree nuts, and shellfish so we cannot guarantee zero cross-contact for those with severe allergies. Please feel free to contact us with any specific questions around our allergen protocols.

Nope! Flavor comes from real ingredients only, like bananas, espresso, and cacao nibs from local chocolate makers.

Storage, Shelf Life & Use

Refrigeration isn’t required, but it can help maintain texture and slow oil separation. Coconut naturally hardens in cool temperatures, so if you prefer thick & creamy, keep it chilled.

If you prefer a more runny and spreadable, room temp is perfect.

Shaka Butter is safe and delicious for about a year, thanks to its simple, real-food ingredients. However, we label each jar with a 6-month “best by” date because that’s when the flavor and texture are at their absolute freshest.

A “best by” date is not an expiration date; the product doesn’t suddenly go bad after that day. You can continue enjoying it past the 6-month mark as long as it’s been stored properly. If it looks, smells, and tastes normal, it’s still good to eat.

If you prefer a thicker, firmer texture, storing your jar in the fridge can also help extend freshness.
